If one is not too risk averse, and can accurately assess deals, it might behoove one to reject "fair" deals, just in case an advantageous one pops up down the line. Maybe in this example he won't be offered more, but perhaps in some of the paths that have him losing chips, he'll be offered a premium over his small stack, thus increasing the equity of the residue. I usually refuse fair deals. Most of the times it increases variance, but sometimes good things happend down the road. Anyway, it's a freeroll.
